Hi NATO,

Wiped off the dust and fired up my '86 TC this weekend. Well, almpost fired up. Had to make a little visit to the parts guy for a new battery first. Then took my brother (he's on vacation) for a little ride out the four lane through the sugar cane fields (in PA it was corn, here it's cane). The Bird's packed back in the garage for now. I've attached a couple garage pics if you care to see:

Any hoot, did a walk around looking for lights out (ie. no yearly inslections down here) and found the driver's side fog lamp out. This lamp is one of the one's that has what looks like a little black batman cap or black cat emblem on the from of the glass lens. O the rear of the lamp assembly, says Made in France , Valeo , H255W [I think that means H2 55Watt, not sure though]). Here are some pics of the assembly:

I'm not sure if 1) I'm supposed to bend the cloth covered wire retainer's hooks, then pull off the wire retainer, and the bulb falls out the back, or 2) if whole rear assembly gets replaced.

Any ideas on how to do this repair and where to get the parts? As always, your help will be greatly appreciated.

Bret

Thanks Hoodbird. As you can probably tell, I'm not much of an expert on bulbs. So now that you have pointed it out, I do see that one of the hooks will unhook easily. I previously thought that both hooks were hooked through holes only.

Thanks for the advice :-)

Hi Hoodbird,

After I received your reply yesterday, I stopped at the parts guy. He didn't have the H2 55W bulb in stock, but ordered it from another one of their stores. I ordered two so I'd have a spare. The bill was $15.98 US total. Per your suggestion, I just checked eBay and that's about what they go for there.

I also appreciate your indentification of the "Marchal 750 Series Fog Lights". I even said to the parts guy that I would hate to "curb" one of theese lamps and try to find a replacement.

For others who may be interested in this topic, here's a pic of the way the H2 bulb gets disassembled from it's ceramic holder:

Note that there's a notch on one side and hole on the other side of the lamp itself. You need to lift up on the "ski shaped" tension springs in order to get he bulb out over the pin and the notch (ie. the bulb will not just pull straight out).

Thanks again for your reply. It was very helpful.

Bret
