alright i unplugged the o2 sensor two days ago and removed and unplugged the VAM

car drove great...only issue was WOT under 3k which is understandable...but over 3k - the car never pulled so good...the miss went away even when hot

i just cleared the ecm and plugged and put the vam back on but left the o2 off

ice cold it pulled okay but not as strong as with it off...once it got warm it started bucking and stumbling

the CEL would stay off until i got on it then it would stay on until i turned the car off and it would go away until i got on it hard again

heres the codes i got once i got home :

KOEO : 11
CM : 41 "System was lean for 15 seconds or more (no HO2S switching) "
65 "Check intermittent HO2S (signal or ground)"
KOER : 21 "Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor out of range "
34 - emissions recall
41 - "System lean "
74 - didnt tap brake
77 - i didnt goose

i tested the ect the other day and it came up good...ill test it again now

also how can the o2 possibly be lean if its disconnected...and how can it be intermittent if its disconnected?

wait on nato the code 65 means vaf signal below test minimum

which is it? [Image: redface.gif]

i plugged the o2 in...even crappier...stopped at mcdonalds to unplug o2 and vam again...nice [Image: biggrin.gif]

ect tested good again

vam koeo 0.256v...what should i adjust idle to?

heres something strange...BP sensor is showing 158hz at 30.03" baro. press. - i thought its supposed to be ~110 at atmospheric pressure

one thing that stopped is code 72 - loss of KAPWR [Image: smile.gif]

so does my BPS sound shot? should i put some vaccum on it and see what it says?

what should i do now?

BP of 158 Hz at one standard atmosphere is right on the money.

VAF voltage will be about 1.0 V at 1000 RPM idle with motor warm.

Unless the coolant is at operating temp during KOER test, ECT will set a code. Was the motor fully warmed up when you ran KOER?

Did you replace the 02 sensor? If it was running rich for a long time, it is possible that the 02 is dead from fuel fouling. Did you measure 02 voltage with car warmed up and idling? Should be jumping from about .2V to .8V or so a few times a second. If the 02 is dead and not putting out any voltage, the EEC reads this as lean, and tries to richen the A/F until it hits the adaptive limit, then it sets a lean code even though it is running rich.

actually no the engine wasnt warmed up yet when i did the KOER (doh!)

i havent replaced the o2 sensor yet - i am just leaving it unplugged until i can afford one...the car runs much better

so if the o2 is unplugged the ecu will still read it as lean and try to enrichen?

ill do some driving and then see what kind of voltage im getting at the o2 sensor...maybe this is a good time for that graphing software i got with my dvm

thanks [Image: biggrin.gif] definatly glad i ask questions id make things much worse
