long story short. engine revs up before tranny get power to rw. now it idles rough in nuetral but if you push in the clutch it smoothes out. could this be timing related or at least in ignition somewhere? also anyone ever "BLOW" a pcv vale out of its rightful place? this results in your car looking like "uncle buck's" 76 marquis. all this smoke is white, it doesn't have a coolant smell, and i also saw some oil gently baking on the exhaust manifold. i may be wrong but isnt the head gasket below the exhaust manifold? any help would be great? gotta figure what to have fixed. might have to sell her [Image: frown.gif] or at least find an [Image: eek.gif] automatic to trade for

1. head gasket is below th eexhaust manifold.
Oil on manifold could come from the front bolt in each exhaust runner. Those bolts screw into the oil return holes in the head.

2.The bottom (big) PCV hose gets hard with age and the valve fit is sloppy. Use a hose clamp.

3 Rough idle could be anything. Have you pulled the codes, put a vacuum gauge on it?
How old is the tuneup? What brand of plug wired you using? What kind of plugs?

tune up is maybe 2 months old. just replaced plugs after timing belt snapped.had #2 and #4 crossed. acdelco rapidfire (a buck apack couldn't resist). autolite pro series. as far as codes go the cel hasn't come on but the hvac panel tends flash once in awhile and not sure how to use vacuum gauge. do i have to retorque the manifold bolts. the motor is has 211k on it. it was running sweet til i got on real hard for a couple miles.
