I'm looking for pole of what everyone is using on exhaust.
I can't decide if I want a single, or dual pipes out the back of the car......
Anyone have any pics of the stinger single exhaust from the rear of the bird?

I have a short video of my single 3" system...

Single 3" is going to outflow a dual 2.5" setup.

I have custom duals on one car. I like the look

Not being argumentative here, but how can a single 3" outflow a dual 2-1/2"? If you're 3" from turbo through the cat, then have a "Y" splitter to dual 2-1/2 mufflers and tailpipes, it stands to reason the limiting factor would be the 3" portion since duals actually have a larger overall flow area than a single 3" (9.8 sq. inches versus 7.065 sq. inches).
Goes against my common sense and what I thought I learned about fluid mechanics too - am I missing
something or just going senile? :dunno:
Personally I really like the way the duals look and sound over the single but that's just my 2¢ and probably worth no more!
Cheers!

Yes there is a larger overall flow area, but there is also the matter that dual 2.5" pipes have ~67% more surface area over the same length. That adds up to way more friction and thus more restriction. Add to that the restriction of the Y-pipe and two mufflers over a single. 3" single flows better - honest...

Makes sense to me on why a single 3" flows better.
I do like the looks of the dual pips, but its a 4 cyl, shouldn't have dual pipes.....I'm leaning towards using a dynamax muffler.....probably will have it custom made from the muffler shop down the street from me. I've used him before and I like his work, and does 3" mandrel bend.

I persoanally like dual exhaust. Single does flow better, but you just cant beat the look of two pipes. Hell even honda pilots have dual exhaust and alot of other cars that should'nt. I have stock pipes with dynamax mufflers and its pure music to my ears.

i have stinger's 3in single with a Dynomax UltraFlo muffler. i can here the turbo spool through the exhuast on light to moderate accleration. next to the gillis valve this was the best performance investement in the car.

I'm still not convinced by the surface area theory - I'm positive it's not quite that simple. It has to do with smooth laminar flow, low restriction, and frictional losses which are determined by overall flow speed. With smooth laminar flow the boundry layer acts to reduce frictional losses; only when the flow becoms turbulent does the friction coefficient go up.
However, I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that you wouldn't see a performance difference between smooth, well engineered single exhaust and a set of duals, at least on our cars.
If you carry the surface area reasoning to the extreme, a smaller pipe would have lower frictional losses due to less surface area. Maybe that's why rice boxes have tiny pipes and we're just figuring it out? mokin:

I didn't say there would be a performance difference, Joe; I said the single 3" outflows the dual 2.5" (which it does). At the HP level that 97% of the people on this board are at, I don't think the difference in flow won't make a lick of difference in performance. I have read that around the 450 hp area is where the flow differences actually matter. But anyways - I was merely stating a fact, based on knowledge I've picked up over the years from people much smarter than myself. It's not something I just came up with out of the blue.
[color:#FF0000]fishblock[/color] - Have you spoken to the guy about doing a full 3-inch system yet? For some reason, a lot of places won't do it on our cars from what I have heard and experienced myself. They are convinced that it is impossible because of "lack of clearance". When I had my last cat put on a few years ago I inquired about having a 3" system made by the muffler shop. They said it would never fit and would only do a 2.5" system. No matter what I told them, they were insistent that it wouldn't fit. So that's why I ended up ordering Stingers' system and installing it myself... which somehow fit perfectly fine. :dunno:
