I can edit my signature, so it's possible your account may not have met a criteria to access the signature. Good software allows the ability to be configured that way, and much more, as a measure to help prevent spammers from signing up and using the space to spam and alter google searches.

As far as the site itself, I ask that same question. Spam gets posted here, due to a combination of factors between software and moderation, and when the spam gets posted it can remain on the site for days. For a time, I was using the Report option to report the Spam but it was still left on the forums for days at a time.

For members, and readers, it looks bad for the site to have spam left for days without being addressed. It makes the site look abandoned. Has it been abandoned?

If I were having an issue with my account here I would scroll to the bottom to the contact us section, surely someone monitors that.

My thoughts on spam and this site are we're going the way of the dinosaurs, 15 years ago there were far more guys posting on here. It was a great group who were always able to help out with whatever problem you had that you couldn't find the solution for with a search. Affordable birds in good shape were plentiful, you ask a question and had multiple replies in hours because there were so many of us active on here. Oh and the volume of posts per day back then was far more than today. The cars are getting scarce now and so are the guys & gals who love them. You ask a question today and may not see an answer for a day or two and I think that's because there are just that few of us left. That and the occasional new member who recently discovered this site after having the good fortune to acquire a turbo coupe.

I doubt the moderators here get paid much if anything for their thankless work so what's their incentive to be on here 24/7 cleaning out spam? I don't like how it makes the website look either but God bless whoever it is that does the cleanup when a spammer hits. They're trying but they have lives too. As for website software that makes it harder for a spammer to post, where does the money for that come from? The advertisers? I would rather not start seeing a bunch of ads on here, but it's going to be them and the dues of the 11 members who come here weekly? Wow, look at the bottom of the "Home page" where it says "Who's online". It's late Saturday morning and I see "43 users active in the past 15 minutes (1 member, 0 of whom are invisible, and 39 guests). Applebot, Bing, Google, Chas K 88". I don't know the difference between a user and a member or guest but I'd bet anything that comes here is classified as a user whether they are a member, guest or bot.

Now, if we could just get the aftermarket onboard with making parts for these awesome cars such as headlights, plastic trim parts, console lids, anything... If affordable parts were available the cars and this site just may make a comeback.

Just my $0.02

You are correct, Chas, in that site moderators, and all the other people who keep the website up and running, as well as our treasurer, membership manager, etc. do not get paid anything. We all have lives outside of the TC world, and many of us have families, jobs, etc that come first.

the issue is you need to have 5 posts on the site before it'll unlock the ability to allow you to edit/add a signature. this helps to cut down on spam. currently, you have 4 posts.

Thanks guys!

Many of the members have contributed over the last decade(s) and probably get the same (lack of) thanks. It's the members that make the site what it is, and those members rely on "the top" to keep things operating with the keys. When you can't be available with your key, that's understandable, but that's when you also get some people can be available.

To me, based on what's happening, it looks like a lack of interest on top of other factors.
