I have an 87 TC and i have never spun the tires on it besides when i have been in gravel a couple times. I have seen tons of pics of TC's roasting the tires. Do you have to "drop" the clutch in order to do a burnout or should i be able to do it by just giving it some high rpm's and releasing the clutch quickly but neccesarily dropping it?.... My car's turbo boosts pleanty of psi....

you should be able to smoke them...if you twist it up to like 4k and dump it(just let it out quick) and then start laying into the brake a lil to stop you from rolling you should be able to smoke them nice in 1st...itll be murder on a stock clutch though

if its dry ill just dump it and wont brake at all...leaves two nice marks a lil smoke and alot of noise

if its a lil wet i can rev it to 3k and dump it hard and itll spin in 1st...then i just lay on the brake and watch the show [Image: biggrin.gif]

i havent tried hitting 2nd while burning though

then again it all depends on your tires...mine make alot of noise but it takes a bit to make them smoke

the tires on my tbird sport on the other hand, make it look like a monster when i burnout - smokes with just a few revs of the tires and makes LOTS of smoke

You don't find that touching the brakes kicks in the ABS? I find that mine does.

Tires do alot for spin and sound. My old tires I would spin easy with no sound. Got some new ties and better tration , but more sound. Ty

The "sound" you are hearing is the tires trying to hook, street tires that try to hook, usually make a good bit of noise.

I've went 15mph in first and then decided to just punch it and my tires just roasted. I have no idea what i did to my car but everything was stock. Well you can dump the clutch on a stock clutch but don't be planning on doin it daily. Jeff

I have never been able to keep the tires spinnin going thru the gears unless i was on wet pavement or gravel. but i like to do it on freshly resurfaced roads or coated ones. Smoking can also depend on the pavement. if you get pavement that has the black tar coating that smokes good. and doughnuts easily. BUT as far as anyone knows i never beat on my cars.

I dump the clutch in 2nd gear at the track to do the burnout. Street tires I can roast like it was on ice.

Just do it!!
