Short/ blown fuse link

I found a loose wire coming from the ignition switch that is most likely the problem with my gauges not working. After repairing the wire I put the ignition switch in wrong and it shorted out. I got a replacement switch but now I don't have any power. Nothing works except the lights. I cue he'd and the switch is in correctly and all wires look fine. Is there a fuse or fuse link in the system?

So nothing is working after you turn the key ?

Or, have you tested the power supply with a test light or volt meter and it shows no power ?

There are several fuse wires in the area of the battery and solenoid... One feeds fuse #1(turn, stop, hazard lamps)and then on to the ign switch... If you have no hazards it's likely blown...

A quick way to test is just tug on the fuse link, if it is bad the rubber will stretch...

thanks I will give it a try. If this is not it i was thinking of running a new hot wire to pin #37 on the ignition swith.

The yellow wire is circuit #37 that feeds power to the ign sw, not sure if the switch has numbered pins... You could run a new wire but I'm bettin' you'll find the fuse link blown on the other end of that yellow wire, will be near the starter solenoid...

I never could find a blown fuse link so I ran 2 new wires from the solenoid and tied them into the yellow wires at the ignition switch pin #37. Everything works now even the guages. I put in 2 20 amp fuses inline with the new 12 gauge wires.

Thanks everyone.
