Setting Idle, IAC removal and engine dies

Well, the title pretty much sums it up. I was going to attempt to fix the infamous fast idle that my TC also has from time to time. I started going through the idle adjustment procedures here...

http://www.turbotbird.com/techinfo/Idle-...e2005.html

However, after I unplugged the IAC and try to start the car, it won't run unless I give it gas. Am I missing something painfully obvious? Also, it looks like its gonna be *fun* trying to get at the TPS on the backside of the throttle body... Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated!

with the car off try turning the idle up a bit to get it running then turn it down to the desired rpm.

I took a long screw driver and cut most of the handle off leaving maybe an Inch of plastic handle left, this gives me plenty of room to adjust tps.

Holy fast service! Thanks Brian! I'll go try that right now. I will be exceedingly happy if I can eliminate this lousy fast idle.

Thanks, back-probing that connector was an entirely different obstacle, but I FINALLY managed to get a reading and adjusted the TPS to .94 volts. Tightened everything back up, hooked up the IAC and took her out for a 5 minute spin. Lo and behold, she drops right back down to 1K RPM's without hesitation. We'll see if this lasts, but I am happy :-D Thanks for the help!!!

I took the ol' TC out for a longer drive, this time onto the freeway, where I normally experienced the hanging idle. Well sumbich, engine doesn't even think about hanging out above 1K anymore :-D She drops right down to normal idle speed, I couldn't be happier; that issue really was obnoxious.

Honestly, I wasn't expecting the "simple" adjustment to make any difference. I was expecting to replace parts, but the tune-up works great! Thanks for all the great info!!!
