IMO, I would go with 3.73's. I tried 4.10 and hated it on the freeway. Thats just my 2 cents

I second that. I love my 3.55s. Had the 3.73 in the last TC, and there was no reason to use 1st gear. I have the 4.11s in my E-350 Pwrstroke, and the engine isnt under enough load to make the turbo worth having. Just my $0.02.

3.55 it is :-) thanks boys... :-) is the 7.5 stock to 8.8 with disc brakes swap going to be worth it? hehe or should i keep the lighter weight 7.5/// and transfer the brake parts over. :-)

I beleive your 84 should have a 3:45 gear in it now, if you want more, a 3:55 isnt going to make much of a difference. That said, I really like the 3:55 for a daily driver. I had a 4:10 in my old silver TC and regretted doing it.

I personally dont think the TC disk set-up is really worth the effort.

Yeah wish I had 3.55's since all I do is drive on the highway. Dare I say 3.45's?? I really need to learn to work on rear ends so I don't have to pay someone 300 bucks to swap gears.

It is not much work to put in the disc rear. Just get a 5 spd 3.54 disc 8.8 complete and bolt it in. The discs work just fine without any other change to the brake system. I have been involved with two such swaps and in both cases (78 fairmont power brakes and 80 Capri manual brakes) it has worked perfect. I don't know if you will need to adapt the brake line but I think it will take an adapter. Mine required a brass fitting from autozone and a short piece of hard line.
