Picked up descent tailight assy @ jy fo 50 yesterday got it apart & cleaned my question is what type of sealer should I use to replace that gunk ford put in there. Any help appreciated as no specifics turned up in archives. hanks to all.

What I used was Pro Adhesives "Strip Caulk - Black". Comes in a twin strip roll. It pliable and works like clay. You will have to "form" it to the sizes and shapes you need. Made by Martin Senour and sold by NAPA, P/N 4424

Petes solution is the best one, but I just used black Silicone RTV to seal them back up after taking them apart for cleaning. So far, at least, no water or dirt has gotten back in.

Ditto what Jeff stated... I used the black adhesive RTV Silicone and it has held up great so far.
