Saw High output Alternator for 87TC from Powermaster...better to go with 3G?

I saw that Advance (Discount) Auto Parts has a 150 amp high output alternator for the 87TC as an OEM replacement from powermaster. Anyone know if this requires the same mods to the bracket as a 3G upgrade?
Should I just go for the 3G and do the mod, or is it the same item that just bolts on like stock?

Is it a one wire alt? If so, stay away.

Yeah stay away from the one wire alts. You'll end up cooking the battery since there isn't really any voltage sensing.Get a good 3G alt from pa-performance.com

Does running a gel cell make one bit of difference?

No. One wire alts regulate alternator out voltage only, not electrical system voltage, and the 2 can be different depending on system load, resistance in connections, etc. Not to mention that they dont start to charge on a fresh start until they hit the excitation RPM, which can be fairly high, depending on pulley sizes, ratios.

Thanks for the input. I'll go with the 3G alternator.
