all seems good now, wel at idle it does.
car pulls good, until i get aroudn 3000rpm.
this is the same problem i rean into right before the turbo went completely, i figured that it was the turbo. guess im wrong.

its odd. can a TFI cuse this malfunction?
i always doubt those things. timign is at 10* advance, as going but the unreliable plastic timing marks.
at idle it shows around 30*adv with spout in.

any ideas on this, car runs great just up until this piont.
i think i may take this "mild" cam out ever since i did the head gasket and put it in

Check your fuel pressure. Also check it under boost.

Is it blowing black smoke when you get over about 3k?

I had an intercooler hose that was letting boost escape at about 3k, even when I would try to "creep" up on the 3k mark without getting into the boost, and it still did it (blow smoke), I didn't think I was boosting getting into the throttle that slowly, but the turbo was still moving a bunch of air that wasn't getting to the T/B and made the car run like crap.

I would check the intercooler hoses, and maybe even the intercooler itself if this sounds like what it is doing.

had the same problem and replaced TFI mod, no diff. Was playing around yesterday and adjusted TPS and now the car idles lower and the problem also occurs lower(around 2200rpm). All points to tps even thought i get the problem regardless of throttle position? Gonna pick-up a TPS tommorow and replace it. Can't hurt!

Why do so many people replace the TPS at the drop of a hat without testing it first??? If TPS voltage increases linearly from .9x V closed throttle to 4.6+ V at WOT without any jumps / drop outs, returns to the base voltage when throttle is snapped shut, etc, then the TPS is good and does not need to be replaced. If the problem accurs at a specific throttle opening, suspect the TPS, but if the problem occurs at a specific RPM, why would you think the TPS is bad?

the turbo-to-ic hose split(just barely) a week ago on my TC. it took my two days to figure it out, because i figured that any leak between the VAM and TB would cause the VAM to not move, causing the car to stall or not start

id only get 5psi and it would stutter and not really rev any higher...my theory is that the vam was measuring what the turbo was actually flowing, and not what the engine was consuming. so as the turbo spooled up and started blowing air/boost out of the IC hose, the VAM was probably pegged and the ECU metering fuel accordingly. this obviously caused an excessive rich condition making the engine stumble until i let off of the throttle

it would do this whether or not i was mashed in the gas, or just part throttle moving up through the revs where i wouldnt normally be on boost

unplugging the VAM got me by for the rest of the week without worrying about stalling out at intersections, or stumbling when i need to pull out or pass cars.

i picked up a 1.5" plumbing coupler, trimmed it, and everythings good to go rpm and boost wise. although now at idle/cruise its throwing the CEL on, falling out of closed-loop and running rich so i still need to look into that
