Running Codes

OK I misplaced my code reader but just found it.But not the manual so numbers mean nothing to me HEHE!When I run the codes should the car be warmed up first or does it make a difference? I noticed with the KOER running cold to warm up I got a few different readings.Anyway with the KOEO it spit out a 28 and a 63.With the KOER(3rd reading) I got quite a few--Ok here goes -22,23,34,41,74,77.
I do have an intermitent miss most likely due to having to replace the wires, plugs etc.Waiting for the Unemployment check in the mail. But do I have codes here that have nothing to do with the tune-up part of it?

code 28: VAT sensor - since it was probably less than 50*F out, this was automatically triggered. Don't worry about it.

code 63: TPS voltage is low. ou may need to reset the TPS, see the Tech articles for info.

code 23: TPS sensor signal voltage out of self test specification

code 22: MAP or BAP not at normal levels (engine running)

code34: EGR valve postion sensor or pressure feedback - signal voltage out of self tes spec. oR signal voltage above closed limit during normanl engine run OR signal indicates insufficient flow.

code 41: EGO sensor, voltage signal always "lean" (low value) - does not switch.

code 74: Break on/off (BOO)switch action not detected during dynamic response portion of KOER. You didn't tap the brake pedal when you were suppose to. Don't worry about it.

code 77; Operator error during Dynamic portion of KOER. maybe due to 74, don't worry about it.

Thanks much Pete!Ok got to get the plugs and wires and go from there! From reading all this useful info on here those code reading sound like some of the culprits leading to poor performance. As soon as I get my steady flow of cash in the spring I'd like to join.

The motor should be warmed up for both KOEO and KOER.

During the KOER, the reader will fist flash the engine ID code, which is 1/2 the # of cyls (2 flashes). After a little while, it will flash a single pulse, the dynamic response code. When you get this, tap the brake, and do a brief WOT to bring the RPM up to 3000-4000.

I am surprised you didnt get a KOER code 25 for the knock sensor. You should always get this code if you dont tap on the intake to simulate knock. No code 25 tells me that the KS may be picking up some engine noise and interpreting it as knock, which will make the EEC retard timing.
