Went to Capital Raceway last night to see what it would do with the Essy cam and no nitrous. 1st run was 13.44 @ 105.3mph. Looked at the logs to see what went wrong and it showed only 15psi boost. I checked all the hoses visually and couldn't find anything so I turned the Gillis in 1 turn and got back in line. 2nd run was at 16.5psi, 13.02 @ 106.3mph. I pulled it back on the trailer after that.
When I installed the cam I dropped the trans mount to raise the front of the engine so the cam would clear the radiator on the way out/in. One of the hose connections pulled apart and I didn't think to check the rest. I should have disconnected one on each side and reconnected after raising the trans back up. It held boost fine until I got it to the track. Live and learn.
I'm not sure what the 6psi that isn't there is going to do after fixing it, but I hope it will be substantial. Since I wrenched my back while installing the cam I don't know when I'll be able to stretch over that long nose again to find this boost leak. When I do I'll take all the piping off and reinstall it and maybe put in a new upper intake gasket.

I wonder what happen Doug???? Are you trying to figure out how fast the car is without the bottle.
The more I read about cams...the less I want to change the stock one....

I wanted to be sure the tune was ok. You can only tune it so far on the street. I figure there is another 60hp or 6 tenths in the missing boost. That would put it at 12.4 and the liberty gears should make up the rest for an 11 second run - no nitrous. If the gears don't get here in time or my back doesn't heal a bit I'll just use the nitrous.

Tuning at the track is the safe way....but...I have a couple of freshly paved backroads I windup the cougar on.... I think a bunch of TC's are heading to the track week from today..Im wondering if I have the HP to get a 1.6 60' 12.7 from additional 60 would be fun...

Get it up to 20psi on the launch and you might be there. That reminds me, need to hook my 2-step back up if I'm going to run it without the n2o.
I can run out in 3rd gear on the highway here fairly safe, but if I tune it to a 3rd gear pull it will be slightly rich in 4th gear. That's what I normally do then pull fuel at the track to fine tune it.
Are you putting the Holset on this winter? As good as your car is running it may be more fun and less frustration to leave it as is. I bet you frustrate alot of others the way it runs now.

Agreed Mustangs and polishers alike....
Not sure on the winter plans...I can fuel more air...but not alot more air...not sure. I nice paint job for the XR7 would be nice....so would low 12's. How long will the junkyard motor take the abuse???? With the T3...the car is almost like driving a car without a turbo if that makes any sense... I'm definately installing 3.73 8.8 this winter. I have eec...so I just run the car little rich...safe=less power. I retuned the car, by removing 1 degree of timing...no knock :-P
Im not sure if I can hold the rear brakes for 20psi...maybe ebrake and foot brakes...
