Are you talking about the hoses under the upper intake or the lower intake? The hoses under the upper inake are for the PCV system and the ones under the lower intake are for the cooling system. They aren't oil hoses but if you see oil near them, it could be the oil cooler that they are attached to. The dipstick port is nearby also and could be another source of oil leakage if the PCV is bad.

If those hoses are looking rough, its time to replace them. Make sure you get the pre-bent hoses, not the rolled hose. Rolled hose will work for the 5/8" line going to the lower intake manifold if you use enough of it so it doesn't kink. I used about 1.2' of it and it worked fine.

Have fun replacing them [Image: biggrin.gif]

there are two steel lines that go behind the valve cover. and turn into rubber right by the slave cylinder. then it appears they do go into the lower intake. so damn that isnt my problem. i have an oil leak right around there i replaced the pcv valve and put the one way thingy in there so no more oil was blowing out of the dip stick. the oil cooler isnt leaking but the oil is dripping on the oil filter. im buying some degreaser tonight and cleaning it when i go to work. are there any oil lines under there?

You can replace every heater type hose on the car except the one to the lower intake and the 87-88 IHI coolant supply hose, with a combination of the two hoses listed here from NAPA: http://natomessageboard.com/Forum12/HTML/000086.html

These are prebent and you cut to fit. NAPA can also supply one that goes to the lower intake but I didn't record that PN.

For places that could be leaking, see: http://natomessageboard.com/Forum1/HTML/014174.html

The oil sending unit is on the back drivers side of the head along with the oil feed for the turbo. One of these could be the cause of your leak.

i belive that is the oil supply manifold that the sender and the turbo supply run into sorrect? last night i washed with degreaser. and it looks like it is running out of the dipstick tube at the bottom. it isnt pressurziing the crankcase anymore b/c i replaced the pcv valve and put a one way check vlave in. is it possible for it to just leak out of the dipstick tube if oil sloshes around? it actully seems (the oil leak) to get worse if i drive the car harder and have more movement. but i can tell it is deffinitly leaking from there. any ideas on how to tighten that up?

well from previous posts that i read i cleaned with brake cleaner, then slapped some gasket maker stuff on there. the oil feed for the turbo and sending unit look good now that i can see it is clean( oil from the dipstick blow by got all over) so when i go to class in 45 minutes il stir it up a bit and see what i can find if there are any more other leaks. i will tell you what these archives have helped me out alot. ( i have to get my check to pete soon) thanks guys
