RR cam review

Ok took the TC out for a nice long romp today...

The throttle response is a little better but not what I expected. But here is what I LOVE about the RR cam.

I always hated how my powerband would die just after 4,200rpms now the car pulls it ass off to the redline!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [Image: smile.gif] [Image: smile.gif] [Image: smile.gif]

Some guy on turboford had the nerver to tell me that it was all in my head, but after looking at my stock cam...I dont think so.


If anyone needs further proof. I took my buddy Devin for a ride this afternoon. I did not tell him I had installed the cam. I decided to make a nice 3rd gear run to the redline and I quote "holy f%ck, what did you do to this thing?"

I am not saying the RR cam is a power making monster and I am sure there are better cams out there, but it was free and TOTALLY worth the time it took to install.

Dont let anyone tell you the RR cam is complete crap ever again!

1988TC 5speed
Gillis valve @ 17-18psi
Stock IHI
Conical air filter on VAM
and stock exhaust with NO mufflers
and last but not least...an RR cam

Did you change valve springs at the same time?

I'm NOT saying the ranger roller is bad, but I would bet you would get the same effect at high RPM with new springs.

Remember that some of that difference is due to the fact that the old cam had worn lobes.
That would have the most affect on top end.

RR is a good cam with the IHI.
Real torquey combo


I'm waiting for some comments on those hi ratio rockers to compliment the RR.
