Roll call for people running wider tires on stock wheels

I've done a lot of research and I have gotten mixed reviews on running 245 tread width tires on stock 16" snowflakes. I haven't read anything bad about going to a 235 55 16 however. Now that I'm ready to use my employee discount, what size tires are you guys running on your snowflakes? I have had more than a handful of people report crappier handling with the 245 tread width.

I'm kind of torn right now between the Potenza G009 or the BFG G-Force Sport. I'm open to other suggestions as well! I'm kind of set on going with the 235 55 16, but I can be swayed. Let's hear what everyone is currently running?

old raven has Toyo Proxes 245's on his car.

I had 255's on 10-holes on the 83 and 255's on the snowflakes on my old 87 way back when and 255's on the back of the Code 33 Silver-Blue car (all rear only). The 87 didn't handle to well in the twisties (225 front/255 rear Goodyear RSA Z's) but it had great straight-line handling. Layla's got 225/60/16 Toyo's on all 4's and she sticks like glue! Spend your $$ on a better quality before a bigger size. The 255's on the 83 suck (Les Schwab specials).

i have 245s all the way around, an this thing is as tight as a bulls a$$. I love going fast around turns. I dont have any problems except the wear issue from the installer error.

I have 245/45/17 Sumitomo's (sp?) in the rear on 17 x 8 wheels. I had to buy 1" wheel spacers because my passenger side exhaust is too far out. Driver's side fits fine.

I usualy run Goodyears because they are cheap enough to burn and handle well. @ around 85 a piece they are not bad at all(stock size). Turning on the throttle if the back gets away, the rear comes right back behind ya.

I am running the snowflakes in the rear now with el cheapo tires that don't hold the road for anything. The rear will sway back and forth.

I know Goodyear is not a world class tire but they work for me. If your not running a good tire, wider ones might just smoke more in turns. A good set of stock size tires would be a step in the right direction of your not already running good tires.

I am running a set of Falken ZIEX ZE 502 225/60/16 on my snowflakes. My car sticks to the road when it is dry or wet. It makes little difference to these tires. I love these tires and at $90 each, I love the price of them also. I will see about getting a pair of 235's later for the rear.

Just my $0.02 worth.

245/55 would be closest to stock diameter, if anyones wondering.

Im not a fan of low pros, huge wheel well gaps are ugly.

the extra height the 55 makes over the 50 wil make the edge rub... on fronts at least
