i was wondering if the actuators on the struts/shocks could be manually turned to either soft or firm.
WISH I HAD MY OLD CAR AGAIN!

Yup... You have to remove them and turn the shaft either 1/4 turn clockwise or counter-cw. Which direction depends on how it is set now. You'll also have to turn the shaft in the strut/shock to match(direction not important).

If you are thinking about using them in both settings for drag racing, here's what I've done. Set system to firm, and unplugged the rear shocks. Then when I'm at the track, I set it to auto so the front is loose for weight transfer.

Don't you mean set the switch to Normal/Soft & then disconnect the front PRC Actuators, then set the switch to firm so the fronts are soft & the rears are firm. Isn't that what we did in Cecil Glenn?

Nope, just as I said... My rears stay disconnected(several years now). The Firm light works normally in this mode, but blinks a error when in auto/soft mode. If you don't want to crawl into the trunk, it's easier to do as you stated, but you have to contunally disconnect and reconnect the plugs. I just flip the switch.

what i wanted to do was remove the wiring harness for the ride control, but after i did that the car wont run right, AHHHHHHHH what is my problem, i always have to play with stuff! lol anyone have any wiring schematics or anything for these cars...

Hi I have a set removed from a part car. I turned them a 1/4 but nothing changed. Is there something I'm missing?
It looks like there is a pin in the center of the rear shocks that the actuator connects to. Looks like it pushes it down?
Could i connect the wiring harness to my TC to change the setting to firm? I want to install this set on our Lincoln Mark VII.

Actually it turns inside the piston shaft. That switches it from soft to firm.

Now I understand what TurboCoupe50 meant. Previously I thought he meant remove the shock and turn it 1/4 turn where it bolts in, top and bottom.
I removed the shock rubber mounts and hardware and put the actuator back on and it could spun 360 degrees. Not sure if it was the actuator spinning or the shock piston shaft.
I was able to rotate the shaft with the actuator (hardware removed, just aligned actuator with shaft) and then noticed a huge difference is resistance.
You can confirm that you switched mode but trying to reattach the actuator with hardware back in place. If it doesn't clip back on with hardware you have switched modes. You will have to also rotate the shaft in the actuator itself (in the center of the spring) to line up with the new setting (a quarter turn)

The flat ended shaft in the piston rod that the PRC activator engages is supposed to rotate 360 deg. It should rotate fairly easily if you grab it with a needle nose pliers. The activator only rotates it 90 deg or so. The piston shaft rotates also but that doesnt matter to the operation of the system.

If it rotates 360 is there varying degrees of firmness?
