Recently purchased 88 TC. Car runs great except for one thing, ride control! I have an 87 TC and in the decade that I have owned it ride control always worked great with 110k plus. Thinking this is no great problem, changed ride control switch. Put in known to work ride control computer and relays. Last owner installed new adjustable shocks, can anyone shed some light on this?

The million dollar question, did the previuos ownder install PRC adjustable shocks or something else? Pop off an actuator cap and see if they are hooked up to anything. There is a good chance they went with the Monroes or manually adjustables because of availability and cost.

Removed actuators, they are motorcraft adjustable shocks! Is there a way to set the actuators and test actuators?

On the bottom of the activators there a an S and H marked (soft and hard). If you look in the little tube sticking out, you will see a shaft with a rectangulat slot in it. This slot fits over the flat adjuster in the top of the shock / strut. Slot in activator should point to S in soft, and H in firm. When you switch it from auto to firm, you should be able to hear the activators click, as well as the relays in the trunk.

Sorry for the delay, but I recked my 87 turbo coupe on I 81 during a rain storm. Wondering whether to total it or not. In the meantime, I found my replacement ride control switch was defective. Eliminated it and wired it direct. Never used the auto ride anyway. Guess that is why the previous owner put new ride control shocks on it. Thats a rap!
