hey everyone, my check engine light was been coming on for a few seconds, then going off, so I ran KOEO codes:

81-Boost circuit failure (this one is no problem, cause I have a gillis valve instead of the stock boost controller)

42-HEGO sensor- voltage signal always rich (high value) does not switch---I put a brand new 02 sensor in during the rebuild, but the car ran really rich when I first started it, and was run like that for a little while, could this have messed up the new 02 sensor?

58-Vane air temperature sensor-signal voltage to high (open connection in circuit---this is inside the VAM right? I just put a remanufactured VAM in this thing, so it has to be in the wiring or the connector

65-Engine control system never went into closed loop---this would make sense if the 02 sensor is messed up from when I first started it, also assuming the wiring to the 02 sensor is good

66-Vane air flow sensor-voltage signal too low---this would make sense if its the wiring or the connector, which would relate to code 58

also, since I have a new remanufactured VAM installed, would these codes be from before and just need to be cleared?

any thoughts?

I assume some or all of those are CM code? If so and they are there from before the new vAM. I would erase them, drive the car some and then see what codes come back

thanks Pete, I'll erase them and see what happens

If you unplugged the VAM and ran the engine at all for more than 15 seconds you will get codes 58 and 66. Also, VAM malfunctions can cause code 42 while (possibly) initiating code 62 as well. If you swapped the VAM, I figure all of those codes are just by products of that. I for sure agree with Pete.

Code 42 is rarely caused by a bad O2 sensor. VAM, fuel pressure, leaking injectors, etc are much more common causes.

With all those codes popping up at one time. It would seam to me that a ground is missing or The 5 volt refrence is missing from the sensors. It has to be a common problem.

ECT.....

When it starts going bad....can cause some of your type of problems.

Pretty cheap and easy sensor to replace.
