I have all the parts to install a retractable antennae. But I'm puzzled by the fender molding for the antennae, it looks as if the center will be open to the elements. Is it open around the antennae post? A pic. if someone would be so kind would be appreciated.
Thanks

Thanks, there's no seal between the antennae and molding body? It's open to the fender interior?

No there is no seal. If moisture gets in it drains thru the bottom of the antenna and the fender. If you remove the wheel well liner you can see that the antenna has no access to the interior of the vehicle.

Wasn't concerned about water into the cockpit. I just didn't like the idea of a hole, however small, into the fender well. Or dripping on the antenna motor. But if Ford designed that way, okay. Still I'm sort of anal about water so I rigged up a rain coat for the electric motor assembly.
Works great although I lost just a little reception ability with the multipiece antenna vs. the solid one, small but noticeable on weaker stations.
