I'm replacing the head gasket on the 5.0L in my truck and I have a question. What is the best way to clean the cylinder head gasket surface? and any reccomendation on head gaskets?

Scrape it. Several brands of scotch brite type disks for rotory machines that work well. Be sure to check both the head and block surfaces for flatness

The surfaces shoud be okay, the only reason I took it apart was because a couple of screws went into the intake while we were taking it apart. *DOH!*
Oh well it's going to give me a chance to clean and lap all the valves while I have it apart and de-carbonizse the combustion chambers. [Image: smile.gif]

Have you tried fishing the screws out of the intake with a magnet on the end of a string or wire?

Yeah, tried that couldn't get them. I've already pulled it apart, it's just a matter of cleaning it up and putting it back together.

Gary> It wasn't me driving too slow, it was the guy who owned the engine before me, it came out of an old cop car, it's replacing the wasted engine that was in my truck.
