replaced timing belt, less power now

So here's the basic rundown. I replaced my timing belt just as part of preventative maintenance. After doing so it took me a bit of time and consult station before realizing my ignition timing would most likely need adjusted. I set it at 13° BTDC at idle. It now has noticeably less power and seems to surge a bit. Current modifications are gillis BCV and K&N cone filter. Boost is 15 PSI. Any thoughts are welcome.

Sounds like you may be a tooth or two off on the cam timing.

i agree youre likely off a tooth on the cam timing. also, did you pull the spout when you set timing?

Can timing is dead on. Its not a significant power difference, it just doesn't pull as hard.

Welcome to the board.
If it shows boost on the gauge but has little to no power, something is off. It is usually the cam. Did you use this article?

Yes. Can timing mark is in line with aux pulley bolt etc. Also, there is a noticeable power difference when premium switch is turned on; what all does that control?

the premium switch increases timing a little, not sure what all else. i think it also controls the BCS, lets the turbo make a little more boost. that is, if the stock bcs is still in place and operational.

Try setting the base timing to 10° BTDC? At least everything should be at stock settings at that point? Worth trying at this point. With crank, cam, and ignition at stock settings you can get a baseline. Select and run premium fuel (93) for the timing table. Last time I was off a tooth it was very noticable. How down on power? Slightly or huge difference? It could also be something stupid that you took apart, check distributor and sparg plugs for good connections etc. Does it rev fast as normal to full boost?
