For the hell of it I went to Ecology Sat. in search of some ABS rotors. As luck would have it there was an '87 with the rotors AND PRC struts still on it. There is also 2 front wheels on it with wheel locks so I decided to go home & go back Sun. armed with chisels,junk sockets to pound on with a B F hammer, vise grips,pipe wrench...you get the idea..........None of these would even scratch the surface. Can't take torches in there. What next? Any ideas?

I don't mean to insult your intelligence or anything, but you did look through the trunk/glovebox to see if the key wasn't already there, right? [Image: smile.gif]
Do you know anyone in the service dept. of a Ford dealer? They should have all the keys, I think there are 16 or so different ones. Maybe they'd let you borrow some of them.

There is also a kit thet you can probably "rent" from the parts store that has some sockets/tools designed to remove the key lugs when the key is lost (most tire shops have them too)

I work at an auto parts store and we don't have anything like that. I know pep boys(if theres one around you) will do it for you. But don't be suprised if they really mess it up!

the local Advance Auto parts (formerly western auto/parts america) has a kit made by campbell hausfield -- walmart may have the same kit. its called a "universal key lug removal kit," it has several sized sockets that are tapered inside to be pounded over the key lug and remove with an impact wrench or breaker bar, and a bar to push through the socket to remove the key lug. (although the origional key may be in the glove box or console. it may also be tethered to the OEM lug wrench with a wire cable in the trunk)

That would be the shits,wouldn't it? Hanging from the mirror or something. I did find 3 of them in other cars & got 4 more from people I know but no go. I had an old set so tonight was experiment night. I put one on my car & put a cut-off disc in my cordless, ground 2 flats(half-ass), pounded on a socket from one of them $2.99 sets, hit that with an impact driver & voila. I've got 4 days off so I'm heading back out there in the A.M. hoping someone didn't get them. I stopped at Kragen's on my way home to see if they had some kind of super-duper universal thing to take them off but I already knew I'd be better off asking the tree out back. I've had to pound on many sockets over the years when customers lost their key so I figure they must be making them out of harder steel or more of a taper. Thanks guys.
