removing trim & rough idle

I don't want to sound like an idiot because I am asking this question twice.... but how the heck does the windshield trim pop off? I removed the screws and the top piece slips right out... I have wiper arms off but I can't see to get trim to come loose from the clips. I have been using on of those trim removers but it doesn't do jack. I am afraid to break the trim piece by pulling to hard.

Also, the car has somewhat of an crappy idle. Not enough to make it stall or even idle low. It just stubles when try to pull out... not a hesitation... more like a miss. It has all fresh tune up parts. No check engine light either. Maybe a loose clamp on the intercooler??

Are your spark plug wires well seated on both ends?

If it's the same tool I have it works great. You need to slide it under the trim against the window and slide it until you catch the clip and pry the clip from the trim with a slight hook and twist motion. It's hard to explain. Don't pry against the window. It took me a little while to figure it out but once I got the hang of it, it was a breeze.

I'll have to recheck the wires again. The guy who owned before "tuned it up" but it has cheap no-name... so I ordered some OE wires from Rockauto.com.

I have the tool with the 2 hooks on the end. I will try the hook and twist deal.

Thanks!

Be VERY CAREFULL on the Front Windshield. You can crack it if you put too much pressure while twisting & pulling. Don't ask how I know. [Image: frown.gif]

I tried a search, but didn't really find anything useful. The trim on the TC I'm buying is painted an extremly ugly light purple with deep purple inlay. The trim on my wrecked car is good minus the two front fender trim pieces (I have one good one, can paint the other.)

I have tried EVERYTHING to help get this damn trim off!! Hacksaw blades, piano wires and thick gloves, with the assistance of Goof Off, WD-40, and some other gunk remover stuff my mom had in her cleaning supplies (lol).

This crap doesn't seem to want to come off at all! From what I've read, I will need to leave the actual trim tape on the trim itself until I'm ready to re-apply the trim to the car, so I need something that will quickly and easily get the trim off. The paint isn't a concern 'cause the car is totaled. I just need a chemical to quickly get the trim off for when I'm ready to swap.

Thanks in advance,
Ryan
