I have a manual boost controller on my 88 5spd. The stock BCS vacuum lines have been disconnected for years, but the old BCS is still plugged into the wiring. Can I remove the old BCS altogether, or will it throw a CEL?

TO keep the PCM code free, either leave the BCS electrically connected, or (a better way, IMO) get a 100 ohm 1 Watt resistor and connect it across the BCS electrical connector. I have had mine set up this way for 15 years. Just removing the BCS will set a code 81, but I dont remember for sure if that code turns on the CEL or not.
