Has anybody done this?

I am thinking about it and wanted opinions.

What are the pros and cons to this?

Pics if you got em!

My first question would be why would you want to do this unless you are concerned with weight transfer upon hard acceleration.
I haven't done this with a TC but I did do it with a 1965 Shelby Mustang Clone. Wasn't a problem. Just went to the boat store and got me a plastic battery box to put the battery in and drilled two holes in the trunk floor. I mounted that one over the right rear tire but that may be a problem with the TC since the shelf in that area is narrow. In the middle you have the spare to contend with. I used heavy duty welding cable for the cable and soldered on some terminal ends. Make sure you use insulated cable hangars when attaching the cables to the frame as you run the cable to the front of the car.

If you really want to relocate your battery to the trunk and make it legal for sanctioned racing, check out this site (www.madelectrical.com) and possibly call Mark Hamilton, the owner of Mad Electric. Sanctioning bodies require a rear-accessible battery disconnect switch to shut down the entire electrical system. However, disconnecting the battery while the engine is running will fry your EEC and possibly the alternator. I used the Mad Electric rear-mount battery kit which also relocates the starter solenoid to the trunk and replaces the underhood solenoid with a stud terminal. I used a Flaming River pushrod-style disconnect switch mounted next to the trunk latch support with the pushrod extending out at the upper right hand corner of the license plate. Run a 8 gauge wire from the battery + to the stud terminal to maintain the battery connection when the disconnect is opened. I ran two 8 gauge wires from the load side of the disconnect to EVTM connections S267 and S268 to shutdown things when the switch is opened. Hope this helps.

My goal is to keep the car as a daily driver with weekend runs at the local strip.

Is there any problems with the battery being so far away from the alt?

If I move the battery to the trunk I think it would be the ideal place to put my MSD when I get it.

Sweet. That would make more crap that I have hanging out in front of the car. Sweet place for it, though.

That would sit right above my intercooler.
