"reinforcing" my fuel rail and injectors...

OK guys as it has been said before on TF, desperate times call for desperate measures.

I developed a fuel leak somewhere around injectors #1 & #2, don't know if its the injectors or the rail or regulator or what. I replaced the o-rings and it still persists, though not as bad.

I removed the fuel line earlier and cleaned it up the best I could, to find no visible problems. My solution? J-B Weld!

I coated the necks of all of the injectors in it really good, and coated the ENTIRE rail in a heavy case of it. If the leak isn't in the rail, I'll be damned if this rail ever cracks!

I think I'm going to build one more layer on top of this one after it dries.

My mom is out of town and I have no transportation so this will have to do!

I'm unaware of anyone having a problem with the rail itself, not to say it couldn't be a problem. The fuel injector body can leak and they are prone to leak. If you don't work the injectors into the fuel rail carefully they can leak at the rail becuase the "O" ring can twist. Have you tried loosening the rail and pushing it down tight and seating the fuel injectors into the rail and manifold? I use a very small amount of lubricant to help work the injectors into the rail. Don't use penetrating oil!

I lubed the o-rings with an extremely small amount of motor oil, barely enough to make them glisten under light.

As for seating them, I've installed fuel rails a million times, what I do on these setups is push the rail down into the injectors (once they're all in snugly) and tighten the bolts. I'll make sure not to twist them though, I didn't know that can mess it up.

Well guys since this is only temporary, I took it the extra redneck yard and I slopped JB all over the necks of the injectors, and instead of lubing the o-rings with oil, I used a small amount of RTV black this time. If this thing leaks now I'll be the most unlucky bastard alive!

I plan on replacing all of the injectors and just getting the TurboJoe fuel rail, since I don't want anymore cracks. I'm probably going to replace all of the fuel system lines with AN Push-Lok blue hose. It can do 250 PSI, is good to -40* F to 212* F and is compatible with most fuel, oil, etc. It accepts regular Push-Lite AN fittings but its very cheap, RPS has it for $1.78/foot for -6 AN.

RTV will NOT hold up to gas!! Gas softens RTV, and breaks the bond between the RTV and the surface it is attached to.

Well damn, I guess I can scratch that idea off the list. Oh well. I'll be sure to do a writeup on everything when I do it.
