Reassembly blues

I have to confess. I've been driving the Cougar XR7 (86) as a commuter car from Boulder to Denver and back for two years. I gave up when the turbo to downpipe bolts broke. I bought an SL Mercedes to do the commute. My wife insists that I downsize from having 10 cars (4 mid 80's turbo Fords) before letting me park this latest in the garage. What gasket do I need to connect the turbo to connector pipe on the XR7. Can I simply use a hand cut paper gasket, or do I need something with more heat resistance.

I'm going to have to sell four cars to keep my marriage intact (up to 31 years at this point). I don't want to sell the Lotuses or the Turbo Fords.

Anyone want some Mercedes?

Dick,
There is no gasket between the turbine housing and the elbow that bolts to it. I have seen one T3 where somebody replaced the bolts with studs and then use nuts. to hold the elbow to the turbine housing.

Sell a turbo Ford. I could tell you a long story of this weeks events. my wife discovered she didn't like her brand new Escape as much as she missed her 95 Explorer that we traded in. Now she has a 2003 Explorer and I don't have my F150 and my very rust daily driver 88 TC. Don't worry, her discovery of "bonding with her car" will benefit me down the road [Image: biggrin.gif]

I can't give you any advice on reducing your inventory. By the way, did I ever tell you the story about my favorite boat name - "Instead of Her". Can you guess how it goes? [Image: biggrin.gif]

You only need two tools in life; WD-40 and Duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should use WD-40. If it moves and it shouldn't, use Duct Tape.

Ya know Pete, my EX-WIFE told me it was either gonna be her or my jet-ski and motorcycle. Sometimes I miss her, but I'm hoping my aim will improve. [Image: biggrin.gif]
