Rear Center Brake Hose

I'm having a helluva time finding a new rear center brake hose (the one that runs from hard line on the body to the splitting block which mounts to the differential). I bought a hose from Autozone which has the holes for the rear right and left hardlines on the same side of the block. The lines I have running along my axle, however, have one hard line entering the side, while the other hardline enters into the top of the splitting block.

Anyone else have this problem? Am I going to have to bend some new lines? If I bend the line going into the side of the block I can position the right and left lines where the autozone soft line will work, but I'd rather get what's right!

When I replaced mine, the ports were in different locations also. I just bent up new hard lines.

I had the same problem when I wanted to go to Stainless steel. I bought the Classic Stainless Steel hose that was supposed to be a replacement. It had the same end that you have. I bent up new hard stainless line but I'm adding Mustang GT brakes. What I thought about doing was getting a line from Earl or Russel. They have lines with the 10mm/3/8 end that will match your present fitting on the axel. Then use an adapter at the body end to attach the -AN fitting to the TC line.

The guy at the parts store let me dig through their collection of brake lines. I found with the right fittings to fit (3/8" flare on one end, banjo on the other). Bolted up fine, seems likely to work. Only problem is the banjo end has the raised lip and would only allow the hose to be poisitioned downward. So the hose goes straight down then loops up to the flare fitting. There is a lot of slack in the line (more than the stocker) so I suppose it will work.

I'll let you know if it doesn't!

I know this is late. I just signed up for this forum. I had the same trouble finding the correct hose for my 88 coupe. the correct number is raybestos bh38611. i used the ford pn and crossed it to raybestos. direct fit. nate

Hey, is this the Nate that drives his TC almost every day? Have you bought parts from me before? Didn't you need a windshield at one time? Still need one? If the answers to the above questions are all yes, pm me. Mike.
