Re-finishing Snowflakes?

The clear coat is peeling off my rims and I'd like to restore them to a like new condition. Can anyone tell me how I'd go about doing this?

Would I have to sand off the slight grooves that they had factory? I found a few posts talking about doing this but nothing really all that detailed.

Thanks.

I took mine to a Wheel refinishing place and yeah it cost me a bit but man they look great. About $125 a wheel.

I'm in South-Western Ontario, I'm not sure who around here would be able to do that for me I'm sure I could find someone eventually but I was hopeing I could try it myself.

I figure I'd just need to strip the existing clear coat off somehow and then do lots of sanding and put a new clear coat on? Something along those lines, I was hopeing someone had some pointers for me.

Im wondering if they could be bead blasted then Wet sand them out with rough to fine grit paper and polish them i know it worked well on the rims i have for my driftcar but the ridges on the flakes might make it more difficult.

I have always heard people taking them to a shop to have them refinished properly. Or just find some snowflakes in better shape.

im just kinda confused on the whole refinishing them the right way cause in all reality all they where from factory was machined then clear coated so if they was to be polished like i said then spray them with some good clear you'd think they would be good for another 21-22 years unless your curb them lol. Once i get some time i plan on stripping mine then sanding them out and well if it dont turn out to my standards ill just paint um or get them powder coated black.

only reason i like to clear them afterwards is cause it keeps them shiney for alot longer and i dont have to do the polishing of them every weekend lol
