I have read about putting a ranger cam in the tc. My question is can you swap the heads and if you can is it a good idea?

Turbo and NA heads are different.... different chamber design. Turbo chamber is much more detonation resistant, IMO. Not only that, but the turbo valves (at least the exhaust valves) are made of MUCH better heat resistant alloys than the NA valves. NA valves will likely not last long in a turbo application, especially under higher than stock boost levels.

Yes you can swap those heads. That is depending on witch ranger head you are planing on using. I'm running an early style carbed 2.3 ranger head. I just had to drill and tap on hole for the lower intake to bolt up. It is a N/A head built to N/A specs It got a great deal on it. Runs great but I wouldn't run over 15psi with it. Then if you are talking about the newer ranger dual plug head it will bolt on but you'll need to run the ranger intake. But either one will bolt on and be made to work. I've been running my ranger head for about a year no problems and I'm not the nicest to it all the time. I'm also runing 15psi boost and this is my DD.
84 T/c, 88 intake,I/C, injectors, hood, PC1 ecu, E6 manifold, Brown Tops, K$N open element, BPV. Way pay to run 8 cylinders when 4 plus a turbo will get you there quicker.

I agree with Jeff , I had an 88T/C with a rebuilt motor the head was a N/A head that was in the car when I bought the car , the valves did not hold up under higher than normal boost need less to say it went to the scrap pile
