Ranger Cam?

Does the ford ranger cam make that much of a difference BY ITSELF? I was going to go to the local junk yard and rip one out yesterday, but I wasn't sure what else I needed or if it would be worth the effort. Can anyone shed some light for me?

I think it would make a decent difference just because if you are running the stock cam with a lot of miles it is probably worn out. Like my car.

Well, I have about 150k on the clock, so I guess that would qualify for "a lot". What other model cars/trucks can I get one from? I heard mustangs of a certain year also have a bit better cam for our cars.

91-93 Mustangs and 89-94 Rangers. It should be any 2.3 with distributorless ignition from 94 back. After 94, the cams are a bit different and I think you need the different rockers, so I wouldn't get into that.

Excellent! Thank you. I am going to check into what years are available in the local yard and try to grab one. I will let everyone know what I find. Thanks again
