Hey there Tongue
My lights on the A/C controls were blinking, so I checked out the FAQ section, and ran the code....
It came up with "02"
Whats that mean?

Denny You didn't mention what year your car is, though most codes and diagnostics stayed the same. EATC code 2 in the 85 manual states mode actuator out of position, this can be a number of problems. I would suggest first has any recent service or repairs been done? Inspect vac and wiring at rear of control head, vac lines and wiring connectors to all heater box actuators. A very common fault is a missing pen, the one tossed onto the dash that falls into the defroster duct and jams door open. Lastly if the system operates but out defrost ducts only it may have lost the vac feed from the engine, they are designed to default to defrost for safety purposes. Hope this helps.

I was able to locate an 88 manual today. EATC code 02 states Floor/Panel actuator out of position. This is the control motor that moves the door inside the heater box from blowing out the dash vents to the floor when selected. There are 2 pages of pinpoint tests to diagnose this problem, if you could access the Ford volume B #1 of 2 they would be found on page 36-75-46+47. This is the actuator that is on the upper left side of the heater box above the trans tunnel, behind the dash panel. You may be able to see this by removing your radio and equalizer or dash tray. If anyone has done a stereo install or heater core replacement the electrical connector may just be loose or disconnected. Goodluck Rick B.
