Ram Air

I was thinking of making a Ram Air kit using the stock ports in the hood but have been running into water coming in and the effects of this on the ecc problems... I think that I have a solution to the water by making a slat across the bottom (because it is for now going to be made out of flashing and some pop rivets) that is .5" tall and 1" lon but is the spand of the box... any help is appreciated... also I have a design of an intercooler freezer that works using CO2 that can be acativated like a NOS system with the trottle and/or a button... any ideas or thoughts on that would be appreciated...

NOTE: both these are for T-Bird owners only...

Thanks, Methos

I would like to know what kind of an idea that you have for a cooler co2 intercooler. I had thought about that once at one time, but wasn't sure what I could use. I would use a 1/4 inch metal line in the shape of a coil spring and set it inside of the hose from turbo intake to the mass air flow sensor. Let me know what else you may come up with. Thanks.

You do NOT want to blow CO2 into the intake! CO2 is basically inert, and wont burn, and will take the place of some of the oxygen you motor needs! I assume methos is talking about blowing cold CO2 over the surface of the IC to cool it down, thus cooling the intake charge.

Jef is right... I have seen them do this at the Drag strip with NO2 bottles b4 they run... and one thing on the Ram Air... its is possible to make it with a stock intercooler and without.. just ALOT easier without

So there is no more confusion... It will be made to discharge CO2 through the core to make it cold...

if you guys really wanted to cool the intercooler drip Liquid Nitrogen across it.... the stuff boils at -280.... could create some damn good efficiency.. Just my 2 cents

While liquid N2 is sure cold, with a boiling point of -325 deg F at 1 atmosphere pressure, its latent heat of vaporization is very small, and therefore it doesnt have anywhere near the cooling effect you would think. It is also very dangerous unless you know exactly what you are doing -- I know, as I use it at work on a semi regular basis, and have been "burned" a few times. LN2 itself is relatively cheap, but a proper container (dewar) to hold it for any length of time without it rapidly boiling away costs well over $1000 for a 5 gallon size.

What about just a water spray over the IC... I seem to remember seeing a post from someone over on turboford who tried this and said they really noticed a difference.

Liquid N would also make the structural integrity of the IC too low and it would prolly shatter under boost... but what do you guys think about the ram air?
