Well...it looks like I'm not going to Family Ford on Friday night. We (my brother-in-law, 2 freinds, and myself) are going to try to get to Williams Grove to see Sprint cars friday night.

We were wondering if there is any drag racing near by on Saturday night. That would make a perfect weekend. Does any one know?

From what I understand that track is gone now.
There is racing at Williams Grove Friday and Saturday night but we thought we would like to see some straight line racing too.

The closest tracks to Carlisle do no look like they are running Saturday night.

Mason Dixon in Hagerstown is probably the closest track ,and they have a tractor pull scheduled.

Beaver Springs looks to be closed.

Cecil county is running, but during the day, and it might be pushing sane distance after being at Carlisle all day.

I know my home track is running a regular show, but its probably 3 hours from Carlisle.

It also looks like Maple Grove is running.

Maybe some of the locals could confirm which of these are closer, or more convinient as I'm a little further west, and relating this from my perspective. I cant think of any more dragstrips beside the 1/8th mile cornfield in that general area. I thought they ran on Friday night in conjunction with carlisle, maybe change your plans to g othere Friday, and go see the sprint cars Saturday. If you can go see the sprints in PA, you will be glad you did, probably the best in the world in that area, and they all run at the grove Big Grin

Thanks Bob.

I think South Mountain is the little 1/8 track you refered to as a corn field. From what I hear it's a bit of a joke.
I think we are gonna try to go to Maple Grove. From what I get from Mapquest it's an hour+ away from where we are staying in mechanicsburg.
My brother-in-law is a dirt racing nut. He's bouncing off the walls because we're going to Williams Grove so I better not change our schedule. If there's no good drag racing to be had close by we'll go to williams grove both nights or there's always the tractor pull Wink

I've never run there as I hate 1/8th mile racing, so I'm just going by what I've been told.

The track isn't the best but people use it. I can't imagine the track prep is the best and it won't be the smoothest surface. Fred House usually runs his 8 sec(1/4 mile) 2.3T powered Probe there on Fri's. I'll consider running with you if you guys want to race.
NO TC and NO headaches.

Sorry to inform you that Silver Spring Speedway is now a part of history. There is a new Shopping Mall being built on the site!

Hmmm, free food or 1/8 mile drags. That's a tough decision.
