Quick ACT Sensor Question

Is there any way that the a bad/failing ACT could cause the car to run lean? It seems that the only time my A/F gauge cycles(or even gets out of the red zone) is when Im romping on it...

Thanks guys

I think I would look at fuel pressure first. Check your e-mail

Thanx alot Pete! You Da man! [Image: biggrin.gif]

I just put in a new AFPR and 255 HP pump, Ive been casing this code 41 for months. My base fuel pressure is fine, but I cant get the gauge to reach while driving!

So far ive either replaced or changed the TPS, ECT, VAM, fuel filter, injectors, regulator, pump. The only options left are the TFI/PIP, ACT, and the EEC itself...correct?

OK, im pullin 19 inches at idle, and my EGR is deleted.

Its just iritatting trying to hunt this down. The car doesnt detonate at all, just has a choppy idle occasionally.

Im just tryin to brainstorm what else could possibly cause this...

Was the code 41 a CM code or a "hard fault" code from KOER? Depending on what part is the test series the code came from, it will mean different things.

I am also thinking vac leak. ACT doesnt have that much effect on A/F.... main purpose of it is to tell the EEC to pull timing if IAT is too hot.

BP?? Would affect A/F if reading too high. Plugged/dirty IC??

BP does affect A/F. However you have to test it's frequency output to tell if it's good or not. There is a chart posted on another site showing voltage output at various altitudes.
The problem is that the differences in voltage output say between 1000 ft and 2000 ft is so small, and the stated allowable variance big enough, it makes using voltage almost meaningless. I have charts of the desired frequency output if any body want them

Jeff, the code 41 only comes up during KOER, not in the contimous memory. I will check my vacuum lines though, its always a possibility.

The codes I do get are:
KOEO 84 EGR (deleted)
28 VAM out of range, but I also got
this code w/ the old VAM...?

KOER 28 again
34 EGR
41 Lean
74, 77 Both response tests

Bout the BP sensor, I took the car to my mechanic a few months ago about this same problem. He plugged in a new barometric sensor and it didnt help, so I ruled that out. But again, its a possibility.

Thanks guys

code 28 maybe your connector or other VAM wiring is defective. Wouldn't be the first time. check for pins out of place, loose wire etc.

Bring it down here and I'll let you try one of my VAMS.
