Quote:now wont go over 3500 rpm,
Did you? :
Change the fuel filter?
Check the cam timing and then the ignition timing?
Check fuel pressure?
Check/change if needed, the air filter?

Can you hear a leak or did you test for it in some way? Is idle vacuum low?

its your timming, mine did same thing, found out someone set timming to 10 deg atdc instead of btdc... these cars are very senstive to timming, Look on our tech article section on adjusting ignition timming first....

To sell or not to sell this car is more of the question "do I want to do the work since I have pro's here on NATO to help me, or do I trust a mechanic to work on a car he/she has never seen before"?

Unless you take the car to a "pro" that *HAS* an SVO or TC.. (not "heard of it") they are not a pro so far as this car is concerned IMHO. Just trying to find someone with a smoker for leak testing netted me many mechanics who would have bet their shop that Ford **NEVER** put a 4 cylinder in a Tbird, actually arguing with me on the phone that I can't see that supercharged V6 for the trees.
Good mechanics out there, but this just isn't your run of the mill car.

We can tell you everything you need to know, but if you just aren't into figuring it out (which is totally fine) then a fine member of this board will be happy to give it a TLC home so you can purchase something worry free. Just let us have first dibs Wink . Or maybe you'd rather pay a member to go to your house instead of a mechanic?

I'm ribbing you mostly...but the fact remains that this is (generally) not a car to take to a mechanic. BTDT.
