While doing work on my car at school it was found that my strut towers have rust, rusted being that you can reach throught with about 3 fingers and grab the turbo. Its the same story on the driver side. My teacher inspected the rest and told me that it was good. He said that it wouldnt cause me problems for a few years but it would have to be fixed eventually.

Is this common to these cars, and how hard is it to fix?

If its that bad, it will have rust eating away in several other places as well... I'd find a rust free one while they are cheap and still out there.

I agree with Tom..... rust like than is pretty bad. Find a nicer TC, and use the old one as a parts car.

Had a 69 Mustang (similar unit boby to the TC) daily driver back in the early 80s with similar rust problems. On a hard left turn, the right side strut tower ripped loose and ended up laying against the motor. That was the end of that car [Image: frown.gif]
