Quarter Glass Trim Repair

Has anyone tried to restore the trim around the quarter glass on our cars?  The trim on my car is in pretty good shape everywhere but around the quarter glass is atrocious.  The rubber is sun baked and looks and feels more like 50 grit sandpaper.  I watched a video from a fellow on YouTube that goes by "The Infamous Project".  He's all about Fox Body Mustangs but he does a repair using a flexible glazing putty called Poly-Flex by "Evercoat" on a couple of Mustang quarter glass pieces. He uses a primer and trim paint to finish it and makes the claim that those products also have flexible characteristics.  His finished product looked pretty good from the YouTube video.  Anyway I was thinking of trying that method and would be interested to hear if anyone else has tried something similar or would recommend something entirely different. I'd ask if anyone knows of replacement trim but like most everything else exterior on these birds, I'm not confident it's out there.  But if it is, I'd be much obliged to hear from you on that as well.

I was thinking of trying Flexseal.  I have a parts car here and was going to try it on one of them when we get a warm day.  I will let you know the results.

I am working on a headlight/marker lamp refurb project right now so it will be a bit before I am ready to try this.  I am thinking to do it right, I should remove the quarter glass first.  If anyone has any insight to that process that would be great.
