Problom with vam (i think)

Ok so ive been trying to hunt down this high idle problom for a while now , so ive noticed a few weird things when the ac is on idle is great ac off idles high again even at operating temperture so i had the car idling it was at operating temperture and it started like surging up and down and kept doing it so ive had the cone filter off and noticed the vam door erratically swinging so i took my finger to stop the door and it stayed shut and idled great after that so am i having a vam problom or maybe something up stream and what exactly controls the vam door to swing open i have a textbook on the car and can find nothing on wiring for it. And no luck online so i have to bug you guys lol. Tia

Check TPS voltage with throttle closed. If over 1.0 V idle will be high. Best to set it around .90 V. In a MAF/VAF system, all TPS does is tell the PCM of the throttle is closed, at part throttle or at WOT.

PCM "smooths out" the VAF voltage to some extent to mitigate the effects of some VAF door flapping.

I have reset the tps a few different times i can look over it again and triple check it and i set it to .94 . the door flapping is pretty back it was bouncing like crazy so im wondering is that my problom and if i should be looking upstream
