Problems I plan on fixing soon. Maybe with help!

Hello everyone, I have been neglecting to work on my 88 T-bird due to college. However I have the time now to work on it. I have a couple of issues that I was going to troubleshoot but some advice would not her either.

One of the main problems is that I have a lack of power and under full throttle anywhere after 9-lbs of boost my car seems to have zero power and makes this really bad hesitation. When I press down on the gas all the way it acts up and it is hard to describe as it is like a really fast putting noise. The manifold will also glow red afterwards not to bright but it is pretty hot.

I have a pretty bad exhaust leak before the turbo that I think could be contributing to this problem.

I think it is lack of fuel and the noise is caused by each cylinder firing with a bad A/F mixture.I have a pretty bad exhaust leak somewhere before the turbo. It sounds horrible and I am not sure if it is causing my lack of power and putting issue. If It is not fixed by the leak I am going to try and troubleshoot my fuel lines to make sure my pump is not going out or causing it.

If anyone has anything to contribute to helping me with this issue it would be appreciated. I am going to try and update this thread with progress updates about my problem, to try and help anyone out in the future.

I have another issue where when I leave my headlights on for more than 10 minuets or so I smell hot electrical wires and my headlights will flicker. I read online the Fox mustangs with fog lights having this problem due to no relay and being overloaded by the fog lights.

I also am curious about what kind of tune up does Ford require every 15-50k miles. I wouldn't mind getting a full tune up while im at it if I could to get it to peak condition so I can use it as a Daily Driver.

There is a thing on the sites FAQ about this that I will reread and look into.

I also have a small power steering leak very slow but there that I should try and fix. Along with horrible headlights that need cleaned and new bulbs. When I did drive it at night It was very dangerous and no where near bright enough.

If you do have anything to add that may help me it is greatly appreciated. Thanks you.

The exhaust leak could be part of the no power problem. That should be fixed. The worse the leak, the bigger the power loss. If there is still a problem then look for a boost leak that open around 9 psi, like a cracked IC hose or bad vac/boost hose. Might want to check the fuel pressure under load, follow the steps h in this article; http://turbotbird.com/techinfo/Fuel_Syst...ostics.htm Do the steps per the article and it will lead you to the problem.

glowing manifold usually indicates a timing issue..... either cam timing is off or the timing was not set correctly when it was done last.... i would start there.
88tc (sold) but keeping an eye out.
