I have A 87 Turbo Tbird. putting the engine back in the car it starts but the primary fan won't come on. I checked the motor and the fan works I jumped the pink wire to ground and the fan comes on. The sender switch was replaced with the rebuild does anybody have any ideas

Well i just have to reply because having an overheating or gauge issue after a fresh rebuild.. does the primary fan come on with the ac on? that should point you to particular IRCM or ECT.

I think you are confused about the fans. The upper fan, pass side, is the primary fan, and the lower, driver side one is the secondary fan. It is pretty rare for the secondary fan to ever run unless outside temp is VERY hot, or you have a cooling system problem.

87-88 fans are not controlled by a "sensor switch". PCM uses coolant temp input from the ECT to control the fans.
