prc or replacment

Let me just get right to the point.

The DS rear shock in my 87 TC is covered in its own oil I would like a replacement PRC that will last a long while.

I have a set of Monroe gasmatic which are from what I have read a bit too soft for me (I like the stiffness of the firm ride setting because I like the way they handle in the curves) but being on the rear end I don't know how much they will impact the handling.

This is what I consider my first sports car My first car I ever owned is a 96 Jeep Cherokee which now has a 4.5 inch lift and 33 inch tires. I know all about the Jeep but not the turbo coupe.

This is my daily driver but I like the ability to take a 90 degree turn at 35 to 40 with out much worry. I would like to be-leave that most of that strain is on the front or outside shocks but would like some other input on real world inexperience.

If it is a good rout is to upgrade the springs and shocks to suit my driving habits (city driving 50mph and below)with a lot of turns and such pleas help me out.)

There are no new PRCs units around. Maybe on some dusty shelf but that is the long shot. Used is probably all you are going to find. The tooling is gone so there will never be anymore made and, so far, there is no one rebuilding them.

There are other brands that fit but you loose the PRC function. Do some searching for the alternatives.

I know that the only way to get a PRC is to find a used one and I think I have found one. But that was not the way I meant the question to be asked. What I had meant to say is locate a used prc or upgrade to something sporty. I have a nibble on a prc right now so I will hold of on this one to see how it goes.

Ask turbot-bird but I think he is talking about Koni. Koni will rebuild their stuff. Some of it was guaranteed for life to the original purchaser. At least the ones used on the SVOs were if you could prove you originally purchased the car new.

Unfortunately Koni didn't supply the PRC stuff. That was made by Tokicko.

I did get a reply back...

"The stock PRC where made by Koni. That was to rebuild them"

I don't think that the tbird used Koni's... I would guess those comments about rebuilding were based on the assumption they were Koni's.

Tokico like Pete said. And they destroyed the tooling. Mo more of them Sad

However, could you ping the guy at Koni who said he can rebuild them?? If he did know what he was saying, and If it's only 100 or so each strut that would be worth it to alot of people.
Sold it Sad*
