PRC not auto firming

Noticed another problem earlier. When I have the switch on auto it wont go to firm by itself. It stays soft. It goes to firm if I switch it to firm, but is otherwise always soft.

Ideas? PRC computer probably?

Are you sure the switch is still good ? I had one that did the same thing but, the switch was bad.

The switch has to be good, it switches to firm when I switch it, and then goes back to soft when I switch to auto.

Sounds like it's working correctly to me. If it's set on Auto it will remain soft unless and until you do hard cornering or if you reach a certain speed. I think it's 80. If it doesn't automatically go to Firm under those conditions Turbojet might be right.

I find the easiest way to make mine go firm is to hit the brakes hard (for some reason this wording just sounds bad).

PRC will go to firm mode if brake psi exceeds 400 psi, speed over 83 mph, rapid or large steering wheel movement, throttle over about 70%, over .3g lateral acceleration, infered boost over 10 psi. After a start, the steering wheel angle / rate sensor takes a while to "calibrate" and learn "straight ahead" wheel position. This can take up to a few minutes to do depending on driving speed, how many turns you make, etc.

The PRC switch is just an on/ off switch. If the switch is closed (on), system will be in firm all the time. If switch is open (off), system will be in auto mode. In other words, if you disconnect the switch / cut the wires to the switch, etc, system will always be in auto mode.

When it is in auto firming mode, does the dash light blink three times every 30 seconds or so? If so, I believe that means some of your PRC gizmos are bad. I have this problem, but haven't looked into whether it is a sensor or an actuator... You could probably test both with the right equipment, however. Let us know how it goes...
