Well, as you all know patience is a virtue......
Finally, she's up and running.....New long block, E7 Heads and GT cam ('84 spec) with.... drum roll, my polished Turbo Coupe rims. I pay homage to my '88 TC by putting on a set of Snowlakes.... I've never seen an '84 cougar with them... so I thought I'd try.

Did you sandblast all of them them started to polish?
1988 TC, 5 spd, Stinger 3" Exhaust, Schneider Roller Cam, -4° Cam Pulley, Cone Filter, Gilles Boost Control Valve set at 17 psi, Walbro 255 lph, CHE Rear Lower and Upper Control Arms, Braided Brake Lines, Hawk HPS 5.0 Front and HPS (F) Rear, CRES Inserts in front calipers, and '93 Cobra Wheels with General 235/50R17 Tires.
Did you sandblast all of them them started to polish?
Yes. I sandblasted them to get all of the paint off of the insert areas and all of the machined lines in the wheel. Then I used an orbital sander using: 320, 400, 800, 1000 (wet), 1500 (wet), 2000 wet, then I used 2000 dry which actually started to polish them up pretty well. Then I used the Meguiars wheel polish using a drill and their attachment.

Thank you for sharing the process! I put the '93 Cobra's on my car because the original wheels were in poor condition. I would like to refinish them some day for the original look although there are not as many tire options as the 17" wheels.

That's not the complete story.
Here you go!
1) Sandblasted the wheel using white glass media.
2) Cleaned up the wheels using air chuck and then wiped them down with a tac cloth. I did not re-sand the insets. I left them a little rough from the sandblasting so the the primer would stick better (paint too)
3) IMPORTANT: created a template for spray painting the insets: used primer first, then Ford Argent Silver. The template kept the overspray to a minimum. SEE PIC
4) THEN I used an orbital sander on all of the flat spots and rim edges using: 320, 400, 800, 1000 (wet), 1500 (wet), 2000 wet, then I used 2000 dry which actually started to polish them up pretty well. Then I used the Meguiars wheel polish using a drill and their attachment. 5) Because each rim is a bit different, some surface areas might not buff up to the same "shine", but I'm hoping the clear coat will even it out more. This is my first attempt at anything like this so I'm a newby at it. I wanted a two tone, "daily" driver wheel. If you want a show quality wheel, new is the best option.
