Still havent got the final bugs worked out yet....

I was getting the radiator fixed, and was checking other fluids, when I pulled the dipstick, the oil looks kinda milky with a distinct green tint.

I am guessing that I have joined the head gasket of the month club. And I was soooo looking to finally put this on the road this week.

Main questions, head gasket replacement recommendations, and for the Maryland guys, where do you get head work done (annapolis area). While I have the thing off, I want to be sure I dont have anything cracked.

Oh, and should an 86 head work for the 87s also... (may be able to snatch one before the crusher gets it)

Thanks,
Steve

Yep head gasket time best case.

Cracked head - worse case.

For most of us they Felpro 8993 head gasket is just fine.

An 86 (turbo) head will work fine on an 88 however the top front (radiator side) bolt hole for the lower intake manifold is in a different location so the 86 head would have to be drilled and tapped for that hole.

The 86 head should have the same mounting points as the 87. They made the change when they switched from the inline intake to the square intake in/around '85. He shouldn't have to do any drilling/tapping.
