i got this car cuz a friend of mine had his running 11s with hardly anything, so to start off its a 85 xr7 with the e6 manifold and the better turbo as he says a svo 5spd bbk 255lp fuel pump, the 88 brown injectors, to start i have set the timing to 10 degrees before tdc then replaced both coolant sensors, fpr, 02 sensor and motorcraft spark plugs, wires and the pcv, cap and rotor, tested the sensors they all read out perfect, but yet it still wont boost past 15 so then i put a pk1 ecu in with the stock maf now it will boost to 15 but cut out and pop real loud if it goes any further and it drops off like after 4k wont pull as hard as it did up to 4k, so then i read up and got a la3 with matching maf now the car will rev up to 3k and then like hit a rev limiter and wont go any further unless i pump the gas and then it pulls like a s.o.b up to 6k but it runs good until it hits 3k compression is good im getting very irritated with the car cuz it has become a money pit. im tempted to pull the 88 motor out of the junk yard with the wiring harness since thats where i got the ecu and maf and put it in my car.. i really like the car and dont want to give up on it and send it to the scrapper, please any ideas are greatly appriciated..

Are you sure that the turbo is good? The waste gate may be sticking open. What type of boost control are you using?
The problem isn't the computer.
It's probably in the ignition. What plugs and wires are you using?
Are you running an intercooler?
Have you checked for air leaks?

Holy run-on sentences Batman! Codes??
Check cam timing, PIP, timing with spout out/in, tfi. Also an air leak at the bottom intercooler hose can be hard to detect...ask Pete lol.

Did you rewire the harness for he LA3?
Did you add the air sensor for the LA3?
Did you pull the codes? What are they?
Fuel pressure?
You might want to go back to Motorcraft plugs and wires since they are known to work in our cars.
Did you manually check the waste gate? Put a pressure / vacuum pump on it and see if it strokes open and closed.
Does your exhaust system flow properly?
Are you running good gas or old stuff?
How did you set the timing?
What's your TPS set at?

well i rewired it and it runs alot better but wont go past 10psi it starts popping and then misses for alittle bit then runs good again but it wont go past 10psi, i lowered my boost controller and still the same. i was hitting 15 with the pk1. Tomarrow im going to get the 88 lower intake with the act sensor. will that change anything hopefully it does cuz my friend got his to 25psi easy with 92 octane. also i know the 88 lower intake will bolt right on but will my 85 fuel rail bolt right on to it? thanks alot Keith Nubel

1) You should be able to find the instructions for repinning the harness. Do a search. You have to move a couple of wires and add 2 (i think).
2) The LA3 won't correct any pre-exisitng problems.
3) The LA3 has to settings, 1 for regular fuel and 10-12 lbs boost, the other is premium fuel and 15 lbs. If you are using a Gilles valve then set the LA3 to premium.
I'm running a SVO PE in my car so I can't speak from 1st hand experience. Maybe someone else can jump in on this.
