Confused: I have been tring to find out whether or not to use these new KB Hyperutic pistons with my new motor. Esslinger says don't because they come apart. A few of the local SVO people say no problem. I e-mailed the tech support center at Silvolite to see if they had any intentions of coming out with forged pistons for the 2.3. Tech center tells me they have 2.3 turbo's that have run Hyper type pistons for 3 yrs now w/ blasts upto 24#'s of boost and have had no problem at all!

Forged is much prefered over the hyperucrackedit. If they weren't Ford would not have put them in in the first place.
Yes I have heard of people that have not had a problem, yet, no I wouldn't put them in an engine I build. Just my .02 why do you want to use them?

I understand not being made of money and needing to save a buck when you can. However, it makes no sense to me to put a part in like a piston that is not at LEAST as strong as Ford did. Why make a moter more fragile? I would always have in the back of my mind that if I ever get some detonation I will be eating piston salad for dinner.... I went ahead and ordered a set of forged pistons for my rebuild on my 87tc and it is pretty much stock. BUT I know that I will have the basis if I want to do something more interesting later like a big turbo or what ever. THink you will remember how much you saved if you blow the motor?
