Pinging -> Dangling vacuum hose?!

I was poking around the hood of my 88 TC just now, looking for a suspected vacuum leak that might be making the car ping and miss at low RPMs. And I think I found it! On the passenger side of the car at the firewall, there is a small vacuum tree. The last tube on the tree (closest to the passenger side of the car) went into a hole in the fenderwell. I lifted it up, and it was not connected to anything! The tube also looked like it had been severed. Where should this tube be attached? Tomorrow morning I'll try sealing it off and seeing how it runs. Please let me know where this tube belongs, I bet that will fix my problems!

You'll have to just search around to find where it may have been connected. If you seen another TC on a car lot or somewhere, check under the hood of it and compare vacumn hose routing with your cars.

not positive, but that might be the vacuum feed that controls the heating system flow doors. Do they work?

If my memory serves me correctly, this hose goes to a vac storage can inside the fender. The can stores vac so the HVAC controls still work under low vac / boost conditions. You have to pull the plastic inner fender to get at it.

You memory is correct Jeff (for the rest of your capabilities...well...that's another story). LOL !
